The Who’s Who in Greek Mythology

There are so many Greek Gods and Goddesses out there I thought it may be fun to learn a little bit more information on some of the more famous ones.

Gods:

          • Zeus: King of the Gods, the ruler of the Gods and God of the Sky
          • Poseidon: Brother of Zeus, God of the Sea and Protector of all the Waters
          • Hades: Brother of Zeus, King of the Underworld and the Dead
          • Hestia: Sister of Zeus, Virgin Goddess of the Hearth
          • Hera: Sister and Wife of Zeus, Queen of the Goddesses and of Marriage and Children
          • Ares: Son of Zeus and Hera, God of War, was disliked by both parents
          • Athena: Daughter of Zeus but has no mother, she was born from Zeus’s head fully formed and armored, Virgin Goddess of Reason and Intelligence
          • Apollo: Son of Zeus and Leto and twin brother to Artemis, he is the sun to his sisters moon, he is the God of Light and Truth
          • Aphrodite: It is unclear as to who her parents are, some say it is Zeus and Dione while others say she arose from the sea foam on a giant scallop and walked to shore in Cyprus, she is wife to Hephaestus, she is the Goddess of Love and Beauty
          • Hermes: Son of Zeus and Maia, Hermes was the cleverest of all Olympian Gods and is the Messenger of the Gods
          • Artemis: Daughter of Zeus and Leto and twin sister to Apollo, she is the moon to her brothers sun, Virgin Goddess of the Hunt and Wilderness
          • Hephaestus: Son of Zeus and Hera and husband of Aphrodite, he is a crippled God of Fire
          • Demeter: Daughter of Cronus and Rhea and sister of Zeus, Goddess of Grain and Harvest
          • Persephone: Daughter of Zeus and Demeter, Wife of Hades and Queen of the Underworld, Goddess of Springtime
          • Dionysus: Son of Zeus and Semele, he is the only God to have a mortal parent, God of Fertility and Wine
          • Eros: Son of Aphrodite, God of Erotic and Romantic Love
          • Hebe: Daughter of Zeus and Hera, wife of Hercules, Goddess of Youth
          • Eris: Daughter of Zeus and Hera, Goddess of Discord
          • Helios: Son of Hyperion God of the Greek Sun

So there you have it!
